The Classroom Lab Manager/instructor position is a non-tenured position appointed for a three-year period. Contracts are renewable, based on results from annual performance reviews. This position will be 12 months, with a typical teaching load of four courses a year.

(50%) Classroom Lab Manager:
This position has primary responsibility to manage lab spaces for three programs: Applied Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, and Environmental Soil Sciences. Responsibilities include:
Routine Laboratory Maintenance
- Equipment upkeep
- Cleaning Organizing
- Updating Inventories
- Maintaining Environmental, Health, & Safety compliance with university requirements and guidelines
- Review of planned labs with instructors and purchase required reagents
- Maintain purchasing records
- Media preparation
- Equipment preparation
- Reagent preparation
- These duties would be required on a per course and per class basis. Instructors are expected to work with and communicate with lab manager regarding their needs and expectations to have labs ready to go on the day of class.
- Individual will be expected to help train undergraduate students how to work and behave in a lab and help assist on undergraduate research projects on a case by case basis.
Serve as an instructor in the Applied Biological Sciences Program. This position is responsible for teaching four courses annually. The courses must conform to the curricular needs of the program. In addition to teaching courses, the incumbent should be available to students for advising, consultation, and research supervision.
- Develop and teach four courses each year focused on the current BSCI curriculum and potential new courses
- Develop assignments, design class activities, respond to and evaluate student work in a timely manner, assign grades. Adhere to department, college, and university policies.
- Hold regular office hours for students involved in classes taught. A minimum of three posted office hours each week is required.
- Work collaboratively with faculty in the School of Professional Studies to ensure that curriculum continues to meet the needs of our students, school, university, and transfer pipelines.
- A masters degree in Biology, or closely related field, is expected by the start date of the appointment.
- At least one year experience teaching or serving as a teaching assistant in lab-based courses in higher education.
- Demonstrated ability to work with other faculty and administrators to provide and receive constructive feedback.
- Evidence of commitment to inclusive teaching and diversity in STEM.
- Training and/or experience in introducing and embedding research into courses and/or departmental curriculum.
