Position Overview

The Center for Educational Testing and Evaluation (CETE) is seeking a leader for the English Language Arts, English Language Proficiency, and Social Studies general assessment team. This person will assume a leadership role related to the development, management and implementation of a comprehensive assessment system for one or more states. This person will supervise staff, collaborate with others on the Content and Test Production team and participate in communications with internal and external stakeholders. This is a full-time (40 hours/week), unclassified position at the Lawrence campus. This position is grant-supported.

Job Description

60% - Lead test development and production efforts, including item development for summative and interim assessments, building the test form, internal and external reviews, quality assurance, and approval of test content. Provide supervision, leadership and management of staff. Plans and facilitates item writing workshops. Writes test items as necessary to fill in gaps.

15% - Prepare documentation about test development for technical and non-technical audiences.

10% - Communicate with external constituents, including clients/partners and professional organizations. Attend meetings with clients and make public presentations.

10% - Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Editing and Design, Psychometric, Agile Technology Solutions) on issues related to Test Development and Production using written and verbal communication. Lead cross-team planning.

5% - Other tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications

1. Doctoral or Master's degree in Education, English Language Arts or related field
2. 3 years large scale test development and design experience, including at least one year experience as the person with primary responsibility for English Language Arts
3. 1 year experience in a leadership or supervisor capacity, especially leadership of complex projects
4. Excellent oral and written communication skills as evidenced in application materials and interview
5. Experience with English language arts content standards

Preferred Qualifications

1. Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, team-based environment
2. Experience with desktop and web-based technologies (e.g. MS Word, MS Excel, email, Skype) and specialized proprietary testing software
