He thought he’d be a musician, until an organic chemistry course fired his imagination; he completed his doctorate at Duke University. He likes films and books and cooking at home, and he and his wife recently welcomed their latest puppy, a French bulldog named Arlo. And music? He still plays classical guitar and performs for friends or family, but “only when I want to get them to leave the house.”
