Position Overview

The University Career Center recognizes the important role it plays in recruitment, retention, and post-graduate success of the high-quality students attending the University of Kansas. Toward that end, we offer a wide range of quality services designed to support and challenge students at all stages of the career development and implementation continuum.

This GA position collects, processes, manages, and analyzes a variety of qualitative and quantitative data sets that demonstrate student success post-graduation and the effectiveness of the UCC’s services and programs. These data are used to inform our stakeholders (faculty, student, alumni, employers, and administrators) of the enormous benefits career services offer and to inform of the post-graduation success of KU students.

A significant amount of training and support is provided to Graduate Assistants throughout the academic year. Supervision is provided by full-time UCC staff, with weekly one-on-one meetings.

Job Description

Responsibilities of the Graduate Assistant include, but are not limited to, the following:

Job Description:
  • Develops and promotes the use of assessment tools including, surveys, rubrics, and focus groups
  • Collects, analyzes, and reports data that evaluates UCC’s goals, strategy, mission, programs, courses, and services
  • Collaborates with relevant KU units to collect quality baccalaureate degree outcome data for the First Destination Survey
  • Administers the First Destination Survey, monitors responses, and sends follow-up notices
  • Aggregates and analyzes First Destination Survey data
  • Represents the UCC on University committees, as directed
  • Perform other special assignments, in accordance with personal strengths and departmental needs

Required Qualifications

  • KU graduate student who meets eligibility requirements as laid out in university policy: http://policy.ku.edu/graduate-studies/GA-appointment-eligibility
  • Doctoral student in education, statistics, or a related field
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to work with complex and large data sets
  • Ability to work independently with little direction as well as collaboratively; strong interpersonal skills
  • Superior oral and written communication skills as evidenced by application materials and interview responses

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in career services
