The Language and Culture Liaisons lead daily English-language conversation and activities groups, both meant to improve our students’ command of spoken English and help integrate them into university and community life. Language and Culture Liaisons, acting as Student Assistants, may also aid Applied English Center instructors during classroom instruction of students at a low level of English proficiency. This includes guiding groups of students through classroom activities under the supervision of the classroom instructor, facilitating group discussion, engaging students in conversation, as well as helping instructors with basic classroom tasks such as collecting homework or monitoring students during exams. Student assistants may also be asked to participate in one-on-one tutorials with students who may need extra practice with various English skills. This position does not require teaching, grading or materials preparation.
