Position Overview

The Education Program Coordinator provides administrative support and coordination for First-Year Seminars and learning communities managed by the Office of First-Year Experience. This position coordinates scheduling and enrollment functions, the assessment of student learning, and contributes to the development of co-curricular opportunities to extend learning beyond the classroom. This position also works collaboratively with program administrators and a faculty fellow to identify best practices teaching materials that embed academic resources and provide early exposure to experiential learning. Additionally, the Education Program Coordinator contributes to the design of learning activities to enhance student critical thinking, communication, and teamwork.

This position carries a .75 appointment (30 hours weekly between the hours of 8 and 5, Monday through Friday). The Education Program Coordinator reports to the Associate Director for Academic Programs.

Job Description

30% - Outreach and enrollment management.
Facilitate the development of program outreach materials including brochures, website materials, and social media. Assist with the scheduling of First-Year Seminars and learning communities and enrollment of students during summer orientation. Coordinate early alert activities and related technologies to enhance student outreach and academic support.

30% - Assessment of student learning.

Coordinate the assessment of student learning for program improvement and reporting to the University Core Curriculum Committee. Train and supervise assessment team. Manage space and technology needs for the assessment project, including survey administration.

30% - Instructional support
Contribute to the development of teaching materials to support program-learning outcomes for critical thinking, communication, and teamwork. Establish early pathways to experiential learning by collaborating with campus museums, research centers, and performing arts venues on the development of applied learning activities. Provide logistical support for the First-Year Seminar Colloquium.

10% - Teaching
Teach one section of UNIV 101 per year.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree
  • Minimum two-years teaching experience within higher education
  • Experience collaborating with faculty
  • Strong written and oral communication skills as demonstrated by application materials and interview

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completed Ph.D. or ABD status
  • Experience assessing student learning outcomes
  • Experience developing outreach materials
