Position Overview

ATLAS, a research center that develops and implements K-12 educational assessments and has several research and development projects, is seeking a Research Project Coordinator for the Professional Learning Team to coordinate projects, professional learning approaches, and resources for teachers. The coordinator will work with the Professional Learning team and other teams to ensure that projects are implemented and documented consistently so delivery deadlines are met.

This is a full-time (40 hours/week), unclassified position at the Lawrence campus. An overview of ATLAS projects can be found at https://atlas.ku.edu/

Successful candidates will demonstrate experience in one or more of the following areas:
• Research and development project management
• Professional development and training
• Planning and coordinating meetings across teams
• Instructional design
• Quality control processes

Job Description

50% - Manage and monitor workflow and deliverables for multiple projects. Examples of work performed may include:
  • Develop, coordinate, and revise project plans
  • track and report project milestones and deliverables
  • oversee the development of professional development and instructional resources
  • document procedures
  • identify process improvements
  • review materials for accuracy and alignment to project goals
  • implement budgets and administrative procedures for projects
  • special projects and other duties as assigned
30% - Coordinate internal resources to support Professional Learning projects. Examples of work performed may include:
  • coordinate the establishment of a work plan
  • produce and or review written text, reports, and/or instructional resources
  • develop recruitment materials
  • supervise graduate research assistants and temporary and student hourly workers
  • develop and review technical documents, issue briefs, and communications
  • schedule and lead cross-team meetings
  • coordinate handoffs between project staff and project teams
20% - Assist in the preparation and dissemination of project documents. Examples of work performed may include:
  • prepare documentation for technical and non-technical audiences
  • perform quality control checks on completed work
  • produce and or review written text, final reports, and/or web-based resources
  • contribute to grant proposals and RFP responses
  • write high quality copy, instructional text, audio and video scripts
  • create supporting material/media to engage target audiences

Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field
  2. One year of work experience in education, assessment, instructional design, or related field
  3. Two or more years of experience using complex spreadsheets as evidenced by work history or professional training
  4. Two or more years of experience with Microsoft Office suite
  5. Excellent written communication skills as evidenced by application materials

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Master’s degree in a related field or project management certification
  2. Experience producing professional development resources for educators
  3. Experience in instructional design using instructional design software
  4. Work experience with K-12 Academic Content Standards
  5. Demonstrated supervisory experience
  6. Experience with grant proposal development or grant coordination, including proposal writing, budgets, and reporting
  7. Excellent oral communication skills as evidenced by interview
