Position Overview

The student in this position provides general office support and assists staff members with data entry and other research project tasks.

Job Description

Provide administrative support to IPSR including:

Receptionist duties and general office support
  • Answering the main phone line and assisting visitors
  • Requesting service for the office space and equipment
  • Supporting staff and faculty who need help with printing, scanning, phone lines and conference calls
  • Scheduling meetings
  • Mailing and shipping
  • Researching travel options

Assisting the grant development staff
  • Maintaining central electronic and print records of grant applications and awards
  • Reviewing and formatting proposal documents for consistency

Assisting preparation of the Kansas Statistical Abstract
  • Entering and filing detailed data tables
  • Proofreading documents

Supporting research projects
  • Entering and checking data
  • Formatting reports and data tables

Meeting and event support, including event preparation and setup

Light office maintenance tasks such as keeping shared spaces stocked and clean

Required Qualifications

KU student must be enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours each semester during the academic year. Enrollment of one credit hour during the summer session is required if the student was not enrolled the previous spring or is not pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall term

Administrative experience, specifically, work in an office environment and familiarity with office equipment such as a scanner, printer, fax machine, and conference phone, as evidenced in application materials

Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook as demonstrated by work experience and application materials

Strong written and spoken communication skills as demonstrated by work experience and application materials

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with detailed data entry
Experience maintaining electronic and print records
Experience formatting and proofreading documents
