Job Description

Job Duties: KU Libraries seek an energetic, innovative, and responsible student to serve as a program assistant for the Center for Undergraduate Initiatives and Engagement (UG Center). The primary responsibility of this position is to contribute to the implementation of undergraduate student programming in the Libraries. This includes generating ideas, outreach to students, marketing, and promoting events on behalf of the UG Center. Responsibilities include attending all monthly UG Center meetings and event planning meetings, serving on the KU Libraries Ambassadors (KULA) program, representing KU Libraries at campus orientations, information fairs, and library events, and assisting the UG Center with the general planning and day-of setup of events and programs. The successful candidate will work with the KU Libraries Office of Communications and Advancement to develop and implement a communications strategy for UG Center events. This position must be able to work 10-15 hours a week.

Required Qualifications

  1. Must be an Undergraduate student enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester and familiar with libraries and library resources.
  2. Good knowledge of office equipment and computer skills in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Outlook as demonstrated in the application material.
  3. Must be dependable, professional, personable, hardworking, a self-starter, motivated, and possess excellent email etiquette, as evidenced through the application process.
  4. Availability to work evenings (past 5 p.m.) on certain weekdays and weekends is also a requirement.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Prior experience working in office/clerical experience.
  2. Earning a degree in a communications-related field (Journalism, Marketing, English, Communications Studies, etc.)
  3. Knowledge of KU Libraries and an interest in event coordination.
