Job Description

Assist SELF Fellows ongoing in some or all of the following classes: MATH 104, 125, 126, 127, 220, 293; CHEM 130, 135, 150, 170, 175; PHSX 210, 211, 212, 216, 236; associated lab sections; and others as needed, depending on ability. Tutors are not expected to answer questions for all subject areas, but preference will be given to those who demonstrate a strong aptitude in more than one area. Tutors will work on a consistent weekly schedule of less than 20 hours per week.

Required Qualifications

Must have taken the classes in which you are tutoring (or their equivalents) and have passed with a grade of a B or better.
Ability to work a consistent weekly schedule.
Minimum cumulative KU GPA of 3.0.
Excellent communication skills, professional demeanor, patience, and fluency in English.

**During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).

Preferred Qualifications

Have taken the classes in which you will be tutoring (or their equivalents) and passed with a grade of A.
Proficiency in multiple subjects.
Prior experience in tutoring, teaching, or coaching.
Availability to tutor during summer 2018, fall 2018, and spring 2019 semester.
