Position Overview

The Center for Public Partnerships and Research is seeking a student to be a Citizen Journalist who will collect stories state-wide as well as nationally on what children need to thrive. This person will: develop marketing and recruitment strategy by incorporating data from digital and in-person collections efforts; document activities and monitor data on an ongoing basis; and assist center staff to organize new office set up files, prep documents, format tables, charts, and graphs. In addition, students will participate and take notes in team meetings, schedule meetings, create project documents, copy, scan, etc.. The student may be asked to answer phones or email technical inquiries and conduct literature reviews as assigned. In addition, they will assist staff with travel arrangements and reimbursements and effectively communicate progress to supervisor and director. Position expected to last through August 30, 2018 (some weekend and evening hours will be required).

Reliable transportation is required for this position.

Job Description

1. Develop recruitment plans
2. Collect stories face to face in the community
3. Assist Staff with scheduling and meeting arrangements
4. Submission and preparation of staff travel reimbursements and authorization
5. Scan, copy and other documents preparations as required
6. Monitor and manage center email address
7. Assist with conference and workshop prep
8. Conduct literature reviews as instructed by senior staff
9. Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

1. KU student must be enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours each semester during the academic year. Enrollment of one credit hour during the summer session is required if the student was not enrolled the previous spring or is not pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall term.
2. Strong Microsoft Office product skills as demonstrated by applications materials
3. Experience working on a team or in a team environment as demonstrated in work experience
4. Ability to work at least 20 hours a week in blocks of time
5. Reliable transportation to work off campus.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Experience in scheduling and meeting preparation
2. Strong knowledge and skills working in Excel, Access charts, graphs, tables
3. Ability to multi-task while maintaining organization and meeting deadlines
