Position Overview

KU School of Education, Education Leadership & Policy Studies Department, is hiring a Student Hourly Office Assistant that is customer service oriented and will assists with main departmental office duties. May be work-study eligible, but not required.

Must be able to work between 8AM and 5PM for a total of 10 hours a week, Monday - Friday.

Job Description

60% - Performing in a customer service capacity. This is a customer service oriented position that assists in duties conducted by the main departmental office and will report to a department staff supervisor. Daily interaction with and assisting faculty, staff, students and guests in a polite and courteous manner, coverage of the reception desk, answering the phone and responding to email. Requires strong communication and organizational skills.

40% - Perform clerical tasks as assigned. Duties include but are not limited to:
Assisting with mail distribution, assisting with office supply distribution and organization of supply closet, photocopying and scanning documents for faculty and staff, receive, organize, file, distribute, and destruction of confidential documents as appropriate, data entry, familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel to create labels, filing systems, letters, and mailings. Familiarity with Adobe to create, view organize and maintain PDF documents.

Required Qualifications

1. KU student must be enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours each semester during the academic year. Enrollment of one credit hour during the summer session is required if the student was not enrolled the previous spring or is not pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall term.
2. One year customer service skills, as evidenced in application materials.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Previous office experience.
2. Familiarity with Adobe and Microsoft Office programs.
3. Federal Work Study eligible.
