Job Description

Provide legal assistance—consult with and advise current KU students—focusing on federal and state income taxation issues. Learn tax preparation software to assist KU students (both US residents and international students) in preparing their income tax returns. Prepare and review legal documents. Conduct legal research, negotiation, and correspondence necessary to provide legal assistance. Assist with the educational function of the office such as preparing brochures, conducting workshops, tabling, and outreach. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director or LSS Attorneys.

Required Qualifications

  1. Current KU student.
  2. Enrolled in 6 credit hours at KU.
  3. Excellent communication skills as evidenced by application materials.
  4. Completion of Federal Income Taxation class or equivalent tax experience.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Proficient computer skills.
2. Experience working with diverse populations.
