Position Overview

AAAC Tutoring Services, an academic support program that is offered through the Academic Achievement and Access Center is requesting applications for the Spring 2018 Student Tutor pool. Review of applications will begin November 1, 2017 and will continue throughout the first nine weeks of the Spring 2018 semester. Applicants will be contacted as tutors are needed for the Spring 2018 semester.

Job Description

AAAC Tutoring Services offers small group, course specific, semester long tutoring for a wide range of undergraduate courses. The tutoring staff consists of undergraduate and graduate students. Groups consist of up to five students per group. A sample list of courses previously offered can be found at http://tutoring.ku.edu . The list is not exhaustive and new courses are added each semester based on student demand. The need for additional tutors will vary during the semester and between semesters.

This is a student pool and hires will be made as needed leading up to and throughout the first nine weeks of the Spring 2018 academic semester.

Required Qualifications

  • Earned a B or higher in the course(s) selected to tutor; or in a higher-level course in the same discipline as evidenced by the Degree Progress Report (DPR).
  • Currently enrolled KU student in good academic standing who is enrolled in at least six KU credit hours as evidenced by the DPR.
  • Able to commit to an entire semester (3 hours per week for one tutor group). Tutor groups meet at the same time, on the same days each week on a Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday schedule.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Tutoring or teaching experience.
  • Have a strong desire and enthusiasm to help students learn.
  • Fluent English language communication skills as demonstrated in the interview.
