Position Overview
Unit Overview:
University Academic Support Centers (UASC) is a comprehensive student support unit designed to provide resources to strengthen the academic skills and written communication of students at the University of Kansas while supporting the University's commitment to the academic success and holistic development of students. Specifically, UASC supports the intellectual development of individuals by encouraging active participation both in and out of the classroom; coordinating services and programs in which students can acquire and practice life management, decision-making, and learning skills; and linking students to other campus resources that will help them learn these skills. University Academic Support Centers is a department within the Office of Academic Success.
Job Description
- Consult with prospective, initial, and currently registered students and their families/parents regarding academic accommodations.
- Review disability documentation to determine eligibility and reasonable and appropriate academic accommodations.
- Facilitate the registration and accommodation processes in the Access Online system.

- Provide academic coaching for students with disabilities regarding academic concerns such as planning and time management.
10%
- Other duties as assigned (which may include exam proctoring).
Position Requirements
- This position requires working on-site.
- This position may require occasional evening work, especially during heavy student service/support usage.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree PLUS three (3) years' full-time experience working with students with disabilities at any level OR a Master's Degree in the Humanities, Higher Education, Education, Psychology, Rehabilitation Counseling, Student Development or a field with a curriculum focused on social justice theory and practice PLUS one (1) year of related experience.
- Two (2) years’ experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with diverse students as demonstrated by cover letter and resume.
- Two years of experience providing academic accommodations for college students with disabilities or academic advising college students.
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills as demonstrated through application materials and in-person interview.
