Position Overview

Assist in maintenance and support of audio/visual equipment in FMS spaces in Summerfield Hall. Assist in management of Equipment Room including supervising student hourly employees, check-in/out of equipment to faculty, students, and staff. Check out keys and provided access to production spaces as needed. Maintain a safe, organized, and courteous environment in all work spaces. Assist in keeping up to date records of film, video, and audio equipment. Report broken equipment to supervisor for repair or replacement. Position will also be responsible for operation of and access to recording studio and sound stage in Summerfield Hall. This is a part time position and will only be funded from August 1st to December 31st. Candidate must be available to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekend hours.

Job Description

10%: Assist in maintain an accurate and up to date inventory of all film, video, and audio equipment. Keep strict records of student enrollment, including equipment contracts and student database each semester, supporting all production classes.

30% Classroom and Building Duties: Assist in maintenance and support of all audio/visual equipment in all FMS spaces in Summerfield Hall. Assist in maintaining building security and safety at all times. Assist in general upkeep of production spaces, including (but not limited to) sound stage, recording studio, production classroom, and computer labs. Operate recording studio sessions and supervise production work on sound stage.

60%: Equipment Duties: Assist in management of check in/out of all film, video and audio equipment, including equipment checks and preparation prior to check out, and equipment checks and maintenance upon return. Assist in management of reservation schedules and procedures for equipment check out. Maintain log of editing room keys and equipment for check outs to students. Keep a list of items that need maintenance or repair. Report all missing or damaged equipment to supervisor. Supervise student hourly employees to assist in these duties.

Required Qualifications

  1. One year of experience in setting up and operating audio/visual equipment.
  2. Documented formal training in recording/mixing/operation of recording studio.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Associate degree in Film, Music or a related art field or two years professional experience.
  2. Two years demonstrated production experience.
  3. Previous work experience in management, administration and/or customer service.
  4. Experience in management of film and video equipment.
  5. Evidence of strong written and verbal communication skills.
