Position Overview

The Department of Applied Behavioral Science at the University of Kansas seeks outstanding applicants for an Assistant or Associate Professor of the Practice and Practicum Supervisor in the online Master's Degree program and BACB-verified course sequence. This position is expected to begin January 14th, 2019 and is a full-time, non tenure-track, limited term, 12-month appointment, ending December 31, 2021.

Job Description

50% - Teaching
Develop and teach four courses per calendar year.
  • Prepare for and attend all class meetings, usually three hours per section. In case of absence, the incumbent must make arrangements for a substitute to teach class; classes should not be cancelled.
  • Develop assignments, design class activities, respond to and evaluate student work in a timely manner, assign grades. Adhere to department, college, and university policies.
  • Hold regular office hours for students involved in classes taught. A minimum of three posted office hours each week is required.
50% - Practicum Supervisor
  • Coordinate and lead weekly group supervision meetings with students enrolled in a practicum course.
  • Collaborate with on-site practicum supervisors to ensure the development of relevant professional skills.
  • Ensure practicum experience fulfills requirements of the BACB (Behavior Analyst Certification Board)

Required Qualifications

Evaluation of the following requirements will be made through (1) descriptions of work experience and educational experiences in letter of application, (2) record of accomplishments and productivity addressed in CV, and (3) information provided from three professional references:
  1. Doctoral degree from a nationally accredited university in behavior analysis, or closely related field, expected by the start date of the appointment.
  2. At least one year with board certification in behavior analysis
  3. Assistant Professor of the Practice Level - At least five (5) years of demonstrated successful professional experience in behavior analytic research and/or practice (experience could be obtained during graduate training) OR Associate Professor of the Practice Level - At least eight (8) years of demonstrated successful professional experience in behavior analytic research and/or practice (some of the experience could have been obtained during graduate training).
  4. Demonstrated successful experiences in working effectively with service providers from a variety of disciplines.
  5. University teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Online University teaching experience.
  2. Administrative experience.
