Position Overview

This is a senior-level technical position within a bioanalytical research laboratory. The researcher will apply a variety of research methods including both biochemical and chemical techniques. These research methods require protein analysis by liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry and tandem mass spectrometry, peptide and protein analysis, and structural analysis of proteins using hydrogen exchange-mass spectrometry. The researcher will also be responsible for ordering supplies, maintaining lab inventories, and coordinating lab equipment maintenance.

Job Description

60% Analytical mass spectrometry
  • Design experiments
  • Sample preparation
  • Sample analysis
  • Data analysis and interpretation of results

30% Reporting
  • Prepare written and oral reports using words and images for internal communication and publication in scientific journals
  • Report research results to the research team
  • Analysis and preparation of data for publication/presentation

10% Lab management
  • Ordering supplies
  • Maintaining inventory of lab chemicals, reagents and consumables
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance and troubleshooting of research equipment
  • Analysis and preparation of data for publication/presentation

Position Requirements

This position will require on-site work.

Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, chemistry, biology, pharmaceutics, or related discipline
  2. At least three years of experience with liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis of proteins and peptides.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Master’s degree in chemistry or a related discipline
  2. Experience with basic lab management (ordering and inventory).
  3. Experience using hydrogen exchange-mass spectrometry
  4. Experience using robotic liquid handling systems
  5. Experience using Agilent mass spectrometers
  6. Experience using protein visualization software
  7. Multivariate statistical analysis using R and R Studio or related software
