Position Overview
Emerging Scholars are to assist a professor with a research or creative project and participate in professional development sessions.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Assist a professor on a research or creative project. Duties will vary by project.
- Meet with professor and other members of research group as required.
- Communicate progress and results of your research or creative work.
- Attend monthly professional development meetings for all Emerging Scholars and one-on-one meetings with Center staff and peer mentors.
- Arrive to scheduled work shift on time.
- Respond to email and/or phone calls or other communications within 2 business days (48 hours).
Required Qualifications
- Prior acceptance into the Emerging Scholars program.
- Must be available to work with your professor at least 4 hours per week (but not exceeding 7 hours per week on average) and attend monthly group and individual professional development meetings.
- An undergraduate student in good standing at the University of Kansas enrolled in at least 12 credit hours for Fall 2022.
- Awarded and accepted a Federal Work Study award of $2,000 for the 2022-2023 academic year.

Advertised Salary Range
$10.00 per hour through the Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 semester until the student’s $2,000 Federal Work Study award has been distributed.
