Job Description

70% - The Digital Materials Production Assistant (DMPA) will be responsible for assisting the Global Education Academy (GEA) team in basic editing of video and other materials for the GEA professional development programs. These will primarily be video materials but may also include some text or graphic materials. The video editing will require basic skills in video editing but is not expected to require high-level skills. The DMPA will need to use Adobe Rush, imovie, or equivalent software, but will not need to use highly sophisticated software such as Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro.

30% - Assisting staff by providing general office support, including: copying, scanning, mailing, filing, event support, and possible assistance to visiting international scholars.

Required Qualifications

  1. Students holding student hourly appointments must be enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours each semester during the academic year. Enrollment of one credit hour during the summer session is required if the student was not enrolled the previous spring or is not pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall term.
  2. Strong written communication and editing skills as demonstrated by the application materials.
  3. Work experience that required organizational, problem solving, and planning skills as evidenced in application materials.
  4. Attention to detail demonstrated by submitted application materials.
  5. Work experience with MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook as demonstrated in application materials.
  6. Experience editing video, with basic video editing software such as Adobe Rush or other similar software as evidenced by application materials.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Currently enrolled in or with previous coursework in education, communications, linguistics, digital arts, video production, or international studies, or related subjects.
  2. Experience in using digital graphics tools, e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator or other software, to create print or digital materials.
  3. Experience working with non-native speakers of English
  4. Experience that demonstrates dependability and the ability to work well with little supervision.
  5. The DMPA will need access to Adobe Creative Cloud and a compatible computer. GEA can provide a laptop if necessary.

Work Schedule

Up to 20 hours a week during the Fall and Spring Semesters and up to 40 hours during the Summer. Hours are flexible, can accommodate student class schedule.
