Position Overview

The School of Business Dean's Office is seeking an Event Assistant to assist with a broad range of event coordination and management duties. The position provides hands-on experience in event coordination.

The Event Assistant will work from hire date through the 2023 School of Business Graduation ceremony, scheduled for May 2023.

Position contingent upon funding.

Job Description

Provide logistical and operational support for the Events Director of the School of Business
Assist with day-to-day operations of Capitol Federal Hall Reservation Requests
Assist in overseeing and coordinating the School of Business fall and spring graduation ceremonies
Organize and maintain the School of Business promotional cabinet
Assist in the creation of new and innovating existing programs and events with the Events Director
Assist in event operations for School of Business events such as creating nametags, generating reports and finalizing volunteer schedules
Support day-of event operations such as event set-up and tear-down

School of Business reviews academic misconduct records. Finding an instance of misconduct may lead to a change of terms or termination of the appointment.

Required Qualifications

  1. Must be a KU student enrolled in at least 6 credit hours
  2. Must be able to work irregular hours including some nights and weekends.
During the semester term of the appointment, the KU student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments)

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Experience in event coordination/management
  2. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in writing
  3. Excellent organizational skills
  4. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  5. Current School of Business student
