Position Overview

PART TIME (50%) position for 1-3 graduate research assistant(s) with studies or background in applied behavioral science, special education, psychology, school psychology or related field. The primary purpose of this project is to support high-needs elementary students with the CW-FIT Program (a classroom management intervention) while building for scale and sustainability by developing a district coaching model. Targeted sites will include elementary schools in the Kansas City Metro area. Training and ongoing consultation will be provided to participating school staff. Must have reliable transportation and must be flexible in scheduling around classroom schedules. Reimbursement for travel expenses are available. All offers of employment are contingent upon the satisfactory completion of the background check. Continuation is dependent on yearly funding. Juniper Gardens Children’s Project is located in Kansas City, KS.

Job Description

Responsibilities will involve working with project staff and school district staff in the following areas:
  • 30% - Provide ongoing monitoring, observation and data collection of teachers and students participating in the intervention development. Including coordinating schedule with a Project Coordinator, teachers and an independent evaluator.
  • 20% - Following observations and assessments appropriately handle and care for confidential information.
  • 25% - Perform data entry and materials preparation. Data entry will occur at the office and will most commonly be entered into ACCESS and EXCEL.
  • 10% - Assist with reports, manuscripts, posters, presentations and other dissemination activities.
  • 10% - Including literature reviews, graph preparation, and reference list preparation in APA style.
  • 5% - Assist with video productions for training and related training materials.
*This position will be a hybrid of on-site work and telework as deemed by supervisor.

Required Qualifications

  1. Current enrollment in 6+ hours in KU graduate program in applied behavioral sciences, special education, psychology, school psychology or a related field, as shown in application materials.
  2. Experience working with students in public schools, or community settings; research project must complement student’s studies.
  3. A valid driver’s license is required for this position.
Position Requirements:
Reliable transportation and the ability to be flexible in scheduling around school schedules are required.
Travel to schools within the area is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Experience collecting direct observation data.
  2. Experience coaching teachers.
  3. Experience with video editing.
  4. Experience with Video conferencing platforms.
  5. A history of manuscript preparation and publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  6. Experience entering data into EXCEL and graphing with EXCEL.
