Position Overview

This position will support a federal grant project focused on improving outcomes for students with disabilities. In particular, this position will support the PIs in conducting a literature review across multiple disciplines of professional development models, effective practices, and conducting focus groups and or structured interviews with people from across the country. Managing and organizing data, organizing meetings and focus groups are tasks this position will be expected to complete. The ideal candidate will be highly reliable and organized, write competently, detail-oriented, and be adept using multiple web applications.

Job Description

  1. Conduct literature review across multiple disciplines on professional learning (40%)
  2. Conduct structured interviews and focus groups in collaboration with PI (20%)
  3. Organize meetings/interviews/focus groups. (10%)
  4. Collect, manage, and analyze data. (15%)
  5. Attend project-related meetings. (10%)
  6. Additional activities as assigned. (5%)
Be a degree-seeking graduate student, admitted to a graduate program during the current semester fall/spring) or summer session. Perform research that is in his/her field (or a closely related field) of study and is integral to the student's education (e.g., dissertation topic. During the term of appointment, the GRA must be in academic good standing and making satisfactory progress toward a graduate degree.

*Work Location: this position will be a combination of both on-site and telework.

Required Qualifications

  1. Enrolled in related graduate degree program at KU 6 hours or more for Fall 2022. Related programs may include: education, psychology, sociology, business, communications, etc.
  2. Demonstrated experience working independently on multiple tasks within specified timelines.
  3. Experience conducting literature reviews across multiple disciplines.
  4. Excellent and varied communication skills as demonstrated by application materials, sample written work, interview, and previous employment.
  5. Demonstrated experience with MS Office suite (particularly Word, Excel and Outlook), as well as literature research applications and websites.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Strong organization, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  2. Experience organizing meetings/focus groups, data, and resources/materials.
  3. Experience providing professional development or evaluating or researching professional development and adult learning methods.

Advertised Salary Range

$17-20/hr based on experience and qualifications

Work Schedule

Regular schedule of 16 hrs per week will be determined during M-F, 8 am -5 pm.
