Develop and maintain current GIS database interfacing ArcGIS, GPS, and in-house software into ongoing water level support operations. Read, organize, and catalog; performing all necessary librarian and archival functions on current and future CD and DVD libraries, of water level program data. Provide support as requested for water level program. Perform independent analysis of data acquired and processed associated with water level program to ensure a consistent and highly accurate yearly data set. Design field routes, maintain fluency with guidance systems, interact with other Survey sections as they relate to GPS needs. Assist with, utilize, research, and evaluate state-or-the-art computers, peripherals, and archival equipment. Assist with posting and maintaining material on professional web page. A successful candidate will be available to work in 3-hour work blocks (business hours are between 8-5, M-F) during the academic year.
Required Qualifications, as evidenced by applications materials:
1. KU student, meeting enrollment requirements.
2. Experience with ArcView, ArcInfo, ArcGIS, or ArcPad.
3. Good communication skills, both written and oral.
4. Must possess ability to pay meticulous attention to detail.
1. Geoscience, math or engineering background.
2. Experience with DOS or Linux-based personal computers.
3. Available for employment for at least 24 months.
4. Working knowledge of Dreamweaver and /or working knowledge of HTML web pages.
5. Librarian/data archivist experience.
6. Freedom to be away from Lawrence area for several consecutive days during summer, semester breaks, and weekends.
Salary Range: $9.35 - $10.60 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience
FTE: 20 hours per week

Students holding student hourly appointments must be enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours during the academic year. Enrollment of one credit hour during the summer session is required if the student was not enrolled the previous spring or is not pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall term.
