Student Academic Support Assistant
Position Overview
This position involves grading essay exams for a large, freshman-level human geography course, which fulfills general education requirements and introduces students to global geographic issues. The grader will provide clear, constructive feedback on quizzes and exams to help students understand their mistakes, strengthen study habits, and improve academic performance. Feedback will be guided by the instructor’s expectations and support students in engaging more deeply with the course material.
Job Description
100% Grading Written Exams and Quizzes
- Grade essay exams, quizzes, and map assignments for an introductory human geography course.
- Use an answer key and rubric provided by the professor.
- Identify errors or omissions and assign points accordingly.
- Provide brief written comments explaining mistakes.
- Calculate total scores and record them in a spreadsheet.
Required Qualifications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as indicated on application materials.

(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
