Student Hourly- Audit, Risk & Compliance Intern
Position Overview
The newly formed Office of Audit, Risk & Compliance (OARC) provides leadership and university-wide services that strengthen accountability, mitigate significant risks, investigate and resolve allegations of misconduct, and reduce the consequences of non-compliance with federal and state laws.
The Audit, Risk & Compliance intern is able to focus on a specific track within the office based on their interest and office need. Tracks can be for Internal Audit, Compliance, Policy, Insurance, NAGPRA, Global Risk & Security, or for the central office supporting enterprise risk management. The OARC intern will assist with a variety of projects such as risk identification, researching new and updated regulations, benchmarking against peer institutions’ policies and processes, process improvement, and process mapping.
Interns will work under close supervision of the Risk and Compliance Program Manager as well as leadership from the chosen track.
This position will support work at the KU Lawrence Campus and/or KU Medical Center.

Job Description
- Participate in discussions with stakeholders to document business processes and identify process gaps, issues, and opportunities for improving efficiencies
- Research and benchmark peer institution’s policies and processes
- Evaluate processes for compliance with laws, regulations, and policies
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least a current junior or senior undergraduate student or an undergraduate student accepted to a graduate school at the time of application.
- Must remain in academic good standing throughout the internship.
- Excellent command of English language, usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and proofreading skills as evidenced in application materials and interview.
Preferred Qualifications
- Undergraduate and/or work-related experiences in areas of internship interests.
- Knowledge and experience in Microsoft products - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Effective verbal and written communications.
