Student Hourly- Photo/Video Intern


Position Overview

The University Career Center (UCC) is seeking an intern to work on a variety of photo and video projects in support of the UCC communications/educational technology team. This position provides an opportunity for hands-on, portfolio-building experience. The video intern must be a creative thinker who is highly organized with strong attention to detail.

Job Description

Responsibilities
  • Plan, create, and edit multimedia content for the web and social media, including digital photography, video and multimedia, aimed at raising awareness of career resources at the University Career Center
  • Assist with the creation and editing of video content for educational, promotional, and entertainment purposes
  • Manage the UCC’s professional headshot program at various career events, including setup, photography, editing, and distributing photos
  • Perform photography assignments, as requested
  • Develop, produce, and post social media content
  • Assist with planning and promotion of career center related events
  • Participate in planning and execution of marketing strategy and materials
  • Help with administration and production of departmental events
  • Develop animation for videos, as needed
  • Assist the Communications Specialist and other interns, as needed

Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Must be enrolled in the minimum of six credit hours at the University of Kansas during spring and fall semesters
  • Experience with planning, shooting, and editing video
  • Intermediate knowledge and skills with Premier Pro or similar video editing software
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills as demonstrated by application materials
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Lightroom/Photoshop)
  • Previous experience with camera, sound, and lighting equipment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience creating digital animation with After Effects or similar motion graphics software
  • Ability to work and complete projects independently while meeting strict deadlines
  • Self-starter who can take artistic direction and contribute ideas
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and focus on multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • A creative and innovative thinker with the ability to understand the role of social networking and create content in the appropriate voice for the organization
  • Knowledge of basic public relations and marketing principles
