Position Overview

The Medical-Legal Partnership (“MLP”) staff and law student interns provide free civil legal representation in income supports, housing, education and employment, legal status, and personal and family stability to patients and clients from low-income communities; those who have mental health needs; those who are members of marginalized or vulnerable identities; or any combination thereof. The MLP staff and interns work collaboratively with health care partners to provide legal assistance focusing on social determinants of health at the patient, clinic, and population levels. This fellow will work directly with applicants, clients, and healthcare providers to ensure the best possible outcomes for a diverse, complex, high-needs client population. In addition, the fellow will work in collaboration with the MLP managing attorney to supervise student intern work.

The Medical-Legal Partnership Post-Graduate Fellowship provides an opportunity for a new or recent law school graduate licensed to practice law to assist clients with a wide variety of civil legal issues that present barriers to positive health outcomes. This opportunity also allows the fellow to further their career in poverty law and public service by gaining valuable legal practice experience in a clinical setting while enhancing the capacity of the legal services Bar to serve needy clients.
