Position Overview
This student assistant will primarily support the Engineering Career Center staff by providing administrative assistance for events, activities, on-campus interviewing and general office operations. This position will also be responsible for serving as a host for evening company presentations.
Job Description
- Assist with events and programs (e.g. Career Fairs)
- Collect and compile data/surveys into reports
- Maintain student library materials and handouts
- Assist with front desk coverage as needed (i.e. provide friendly, helpful assistance to students and visitors; answer incoming calls; schedule appointments)
- Host employer evening presentations, info sessions, and company days – set up tables, chairs, food and audio-visual equipment (presentations take place primarily evenings during September-October and February-March)
- Assist with marketing events, programs, and opportunities to engineering students

- General cleaning duties around the office (vacuum, dust furniture, clean windows)
- General administrative and other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- KU student enrolled for the current academic year (minimum of 6 credit hours).
- Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
- Dependable, efficient in completing tasks independently, and ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Strong writing and proofreading skills
- Computer literate: Experience with PC programs & MS software, various web applications
- Availability and the capability to set up computers/projectors for evening presentations
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong organizational skills
- Extensive experience with MS Excel
- Experience with Adobe Design Suite
- Familiarity with University of Kansas programs and KU Career Connections on-line database
- Evening availability as needed
- Federal Work Study student
