Position Overview

The mission of the Multicultural Scholars Program (MSP) is to recruit undergraduate students from under-represented backgrounds into various academic majors as a means of increasing the diversity of the student body at the University of Kansas and to provide supports and opportunities that will assist them in their academic success and career planning.

The MSP math tutor will assist this mission by providing direct educational support for KU students.

Job Description

Tutor students enrolled in Math 125, 126 or 127. Assist with understanding assignments and clarifying concepts as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Enrolled in at least 6 credit hours at KU
  • Completion of Math 125, 126 or 127, with grade of B or higher.
  • Experience working with students and/or other tutors as evidenced by application materials and interview.
  • Strong command of English language, as evidenced by application materials and interview.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some formal or informal tutoring experience.
  • Successful completion (B or higher) of other higher level of math class (Math 127, 220, 290, 365, etc.)
