Job Description

Monitor and assist Robinson Center Natatorium visitors in a safe environment; swimming area activities; perform lifesaving and cardio-pulmonary resuscitation techniques whenever needed; participate in physical and rescue skills training; perform general maintenance tasks; cleaning as required and other tasks as assigned.

Lifeguards are required to work as Children's Swim Program Instructors and will teach swimming lessons to children on Saturday mornings during the academic year and on week days during the summer months.

Required Qualifications

1. KU student must be enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours each semester per academic year
2. American Red Cross Certified Lifeguard
3. American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
4. Prior experience working with children of all ages (Children's Swim Program)

Preferred Qualifications

Patient, reliable, courteous, tactful, positive attitude, and able to work as part of a team.

Additional Candidate Instructions

Conditions of Employment: Students holding student hourly appointments must be enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours during the academic year. Enrollment of one credit hour during the summer session is required if the student was not enrolled the previous spring or is not pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall term.
