Position Overview

The Analytics, Institutional Research, and Effectiveness Office seeks a principal analyst to provide analytical and campus engagement support to university management related to the Academic Analytics suite of products and all associated data and analysis. This position is part of the Institutional Effectiveness team within AIRE and will report to the Director of Institutional Effectiveness.

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, resourceful, and able to effectively work both collaboratively and independently. They will have strong communication and organizational skills, completing tasks that require significant attention to detail. Analytics, Institutional Research, and Effectiveness, a staff office which reports to the Provost/Executive Vice Chancellor, is dedicated to meeting the data, information, analytical and planning needs of the Lawrence Campus and the central administration of the University of Kansas.

Job Description

40% - Academic Analytics (AcA) Engagement Manager
  • Serves as subject matter expert for data and analytical resources within the Academic Analytics benchmarking platform
  • Develops and implements campus engagement plan for various campus constituent groups, including academic leadership, research leadership, and faculty groups, to ensure active and appropriate use of AcA resourcess
  • Serves as liaison with AcA to ensure appropriate access is credentialed to appropriate users on campus for the benchmarking suite and training is conducted for new users in a timely manner.
  • Actively partners with AcA client support to ensure upcoming enhancements to product offerings are documented and communicated to appropriate campus constituent groups.
  • Actively remains trained and up to date on all product enhancements in order to provide support to campus users as needed to ensure the best use of the tool.
30% - University Decision Support
  • Plans and develops quantitative and qualitative studies utilizing Academic Analytics data, and in some cases, other institutional data, to inform future direction and decisions of academic unit leaders and university leadership
  • Utilizes multiple technology applications to analyze data and to prepare/present results
  • Conducts analyses to assess efficacy of policies, procedures, and current and planned university initiatives
  • Develops content area expertise and serves as a resource person to departmental staff
10% - Academic Analytics (AcA) Faculty Insight (FI) Implementation Support
  • Works closely with AIRE team members assisting the Faculty Insight implementation to stay apprised of all tool modifications in development and product enhancements. Works to synthesize product enhancements with other enhancements coming for Academic Analytics at KU.
  • Works closely with AIRE team members assisting the Faculty Insight implementation to ensure training tools and resources are effectively being designed and implemented for Faculty Insight as part of the overarching Academic Analytics campus engagement plan.
20% - Administrative
  • Provides staff support and/or serves as a member on university committees
  • May supervise staff or students.

Position Requirements

  1. This position may be 100% telework OR hybrid in which candidate may work remote and on-campus based on a departmental schedule.

Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience.
  2. Experience using the Microsoft Office Suite.
  3. Experience developing data visualization platforms (i.e. OAC, Tableau, etc.).
  4. Experience coding in statistical software packages (i.e. SAS, SPSS, etc.).
  5. Prior work experience managing multiple projects in a deadline driven environment.
  6. Prior work experience requiring strong attention to detail.
  7. Strong written communication skills, as evidenced by application materials.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Master’s degree and three years of relevant experience.
  2. Minimum of three years professional experience in a higher education setting.
  3. Experience working professionally with tenure and non-tenure track faculty and academic leadership.
  4. Experience working with the Academic Analytics suite of products, including the benchmarking suite, External Discovery Site, and Faculty Insight.
  5. Experience with university or program specific accreditation.
  6. Previous supervisory experience.
  7. Familiar with administrative structure, policies, and procedures at the University of Kansas.
  8. Strong verbal communication skills as demonstrated during the interview process.
  9. Experience working independently and in a team environment.
