Position Overview

The Research Aide will provide research support for Dr. Yo Jackson’s NIH grant funded research project on the intergenerational transmission of trauma, emotion regulation, and cognitive skills in preschool-age youth. The tasks include project coordination assistance with data collection materials and recruitment, data entry, proofreading and data entry checking, childcare assistance at data collection appointments as needed, and other research duties as assigned. Some tasks will require travel to KC, MO for childcare assistance.



Job Description

75% - Assisting the PI and Project Coordinator with data collection, recruitment, and database management tasks, setting up appointments and attending meeting in KC, MO and Lawrence with stakeholders and team members.

25% - Providing support for the administration of the project and dissemination of results – assisting with literature reviews, preparing materials for presentations/publications and maintaining databases.

Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or related field.
  2. Demonstrated experience with Word and Excel as stated in application materials.
  3. Minimum one year experience handling multiple projects and multitasking.
  4. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively as evidenced by cover letter, application, and resume.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Strong oral and interpersonal communication skills as evidenced in resume and interview.
  2. Experience conducting database management in a research setting.
  3. Demonstrated attention to detail.
  4. Experience working independently and as part of a team.
  5. At least one year of research experience on youth and families exposed to trauma.
