Position Overview
The KU Life Span Institute (KU LSI) and Assistive Technology for Kansans (ATK, www.atk.ku.edu) are seeking a Research Project Coordinator that will work with Kansas Statewide management team to coordinate, promote and manage activities of two well-established assistive technology equipment and durable medical equipment distribution programs. The individual hired will identify, develop, and submit proposals in new areas of research related to assistive technology and disability.
The successful candidate would enjoy working in an environment that fosters collaboration, provides opportunities for networking, and expands research knowledge and training. This position will be located on the Lawrence campus and will work a hybrid schedule, with some schedule activities on campus and remote work available. The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the US by the effective date of the appointment.

Job Description
Program Coordination- 45%
- Integrate program activities with the statewide Assistive Technology efforts conducted by the Assistive Technology for Kansans program.
- Supervise staff and coordinate activities with program subcontractors.
- Supervise the development of new protocols and train subcontractor staff on new procedures. Ensure implementation and integrity of program components. Train and assign duties to subcontractor staff.
- Coordinate writing and submission of grant applications regarding assistive technology and disability.
- Monitor performance data, identify trends, work with team to develop research and maintain strong relationships with equipment vendors.
- Analyze results and compiles data for quarterly reports.
- On a weekly basis order equipment and review equipment repair estimates.
- Respond to consumer inquiries regarding access to equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related area rehabilitation, education, communication sciences, etc. and one year of experience in disability related field. Year of experience may have been acquired before, during, or after degree acquisition.
- Experience planning events as evidenced by application materials.
- Experience with graphs, or presentations prepared using tools such as Word, Excel, and/or PowerPoint as evidenced by application materials.
- Experience working with the public either in person or through electronic devices/media as evidenced by application materials.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in related area rehabilitation, education, communication sciences, etc. or four years of experience in disability related field.
- Experience with data entry, spreadsheet manipulation, and/or data analysis as evidenced by application materials.
- Supervisory and/or staff training experience as described in application materials.
- Experience/knowledge of disability and rehabilitation as described in application materials.
- Expertise in one or more areas of assistive technology.
