Position Overview
These positions will support the LEAPES summer camp at KU for rising high school juniors and seniors. These camps are designed to provide hand on experiences in Math, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering and Robotics. Camp Sessions are June 6-10, June 13-17, July 11-15 and July 18-22. Each camp will have a maximum of 20 students. Resident assistants must be available for the duration of a camp session and require overnights in the dorms during the camp sessions. Sunday evening to Friday morning. Lodging and full meal plan is included.
Job Description
Resident Assistants will be the onsite contact for the students in the dorm to ensure the safety and well-being of the campers. Responsibilities include: Serve as a mentor for the campers and conduct bed checks, be on call overnight to respond to any complaints, reports, requests, and emergencies.
Required Qualifications
Resident assistants must be available for the duration of a camp session and require overnights in the dorms during the camp sessions.
**During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
