Position Overview

This is a wonderful opportunity for an architecture or engineering student. Advantages include flexible scheduling, work with licensed professional architects, engineers and landscape architects on actual design of campus construction projects, and access to large-document inkjet black-and-white and color plotters plus state-of-the-art software programs. Student must be able to work at least 10 hours/week during the academic period during office hours Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. excluding holidays, up to 30 hours/week during summers and vacations depending on office work requirements.

Job Description

Preparation of design documents and estimates for campus remodeling and improvement projects, including interpretation and application of building design standards, codes and the preparation of cost estimates.

Required Qualifications

  1. Must be a KU student enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours.
  2. Course work in applicable field of work
  3. CAD drafting experience.
  4. Microsoft word processing and spreadsheet applications as evidenced in application materials.
  5. Experience with AutoCAD 2000 or more recent as evident in application materials.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Capable, dependable, enthusiastic student with good work ethic.
  2. Above-average AutoCAD skills.
  3. Knowledge of building design standards and codes.
  4. Three to six months experience with an architectural, landscape architecture or engineering firm.
  5. Experience in construction, related to job duties, may be considered as work experience.
  6. Prequalification on the Federal Work-Study Program is a plus.

Work Schedule
Office hours are 8-5, M-F

This position will remain open until positions are filled.
