Position Overview

The front office assistant is responsible for greeting and assisting students, visitors, faculty, and staff and working with strong attention to detail on projects.

Job Description

Duties include: answer phones and provide accurate information, occasional campus errands, sort and distribute mail, photocopying, update informational materials, keep track of office supplies and copier paper. Format the FMS newsletter. Keep track of prospective student visits in an Excel spreadsheet. Assist with special events and projects. And other duties as requested. We are looking for someone who is reliable, customer service oriented, with good attention to detail, and enjoys working with a variety of people.

Required Qualifications

  1. Excellent communication/customer service skills, as evidenced by application materials.
  2. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, as evidenced by application materials.
  3. Available to work in 2 (or more) consecutive hour increments.
  4. Must be in good academic standing.
  5. During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Available to work Tuesdays from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
  2. Federal Work Study eligible
  3. Experience with Word and Excel
  4. Previous office/clerical experience

Work Schedule

6 to 12 hours per week, to be arranged between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm, Monday through Friday, with at least two hour blocks of available work time.
