Position Overview
The student assistant will work closely with SPAA faculty & staff on recruitment, fundraising and administrative support the School’s academic and professional development programs.
This position is flexible in terms of schedule and location. Some duties may require specified days/times but most can be completed when and where it’s convenient for the student.

Job Description
The KU School of Public Affairs & Administration (SPAA) is accepting applications for a student assistant who will provide support for recruitment, fundraising and administration of academic and professional development programs. Duties will include internet research, data entry, managing departmental email accounts, mail distribution, fundraising support, representing the School at recruitment events, alumni communications, and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience with Word and Excel as stated in application materials.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively as evidenced by cover letter, application, and resume.
- During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in the School of Public Affairs & Administration.
- Intermediate-level proficiency with Word and Excel.
- Experience conducting academic database research.
- Demonstrated attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally over email.
- Strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
