Job Description

The Student Computer Technician provides technology support to Life Span Institute investigators, faculty and staff in a networked computer environment including computer hardware, software, peripherals, printers, mobile devices and others. Customer service is provided over the phone, in person visit or office visit. Duties will include, but not limited to:
55% - Hardware and software installation, configuration, and troubleshooting
20% - Network device connection and troubleshooting
15% - Answering and providing guidance to the customers
10% - Other duties assigned by the supervisor

Required Qualifications

1. KU student must be enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours each semester during the academic year. Enrollment of one credit hour during the summer session is required if the student was not enrolled the previous spring or is not pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall term.
2. Three months experience in support of networked Windows OS systems, applications, and peripherals, as evidenced in application materials and interview.
3. Quick learning and excellent problem solving skills, as evidenced in application materials.
4. Ability to assist faculty, staff and other students in a positive and polite manner, as evidenced in application materials.
5. Excellent customer service skills, as evidenced in application materials.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Experience in supporting computers and networks in an office environment.
2. Familiar with Mac OS, Linux, iOS or Android.
3. Basic programming/scripting skills.
4. Availability of at least 2 hour blocks of time on each workday.
