Position Overview

The Department of Geology is seeking a Student Hourly Event Coordinator to assist with events at the Beren spaces located in Slawson Hall. The ideal candidate will be out-going, reliable, trustworthy, customer service-oriented, able to work well within a group or independently with minimal direction, and enjoy working with a variety of people. Candidate must also be able to bend to the floor and lift 20lbs overhead repeatedly. This position requires a candidate who can work a flexible schedule that includes some evenings and weekends.

Job Description

The Event Coordinator will setup and break down furniture arrangements in the Beren Auditorium in Slawson Hall (manual labor). Event Coordinator will also perform business office tasks, which include making copies, answering phones and emails, showing prospective customers the Beren spaces, handling reservations, address customer needs and directing walk-in-traffic.

Required Qualifications

  1. Good writing and oral communication skills (written skills will be examined via cover letter and resume; oral skills will be evaluated during personal interview.)
  2. During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments.)
