Position Overview

Wescoe Hall. The Office Assistant will provide support to the Jewish Studies administrator and the Hebrew Coordinator, as well as other faculty, staff and students. Tasks include photocopying, word processing, graphic design for web and print, help with event coordination, provide point of contact customer service via email, phone and in person, and other tasks, as assigned.

Job Description

This position is based in an administrative office and requires sitting, standing, use of a computer, use of a photocopier, and excellent communication skills. Physical lifting and walking is also required.


Required Qualifications

  1. Applicants for this position must be Federal Work Study recipients as indicated in application materials.
  2. During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Academic background in Jewish Studies.
  2. Working knowledge of Modern Israeli Hebrew.
  3. Computer literate.
  4. Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Adobe design software.
  5. Graphic design experience a plus.
