Position Overview

The Office of Research is looking for a student assistant to perform general office related tasks.

Work Location: Youngberg Hall, West Campus

Job Description

Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Providing administrative support to permanent staff by performing a variety of clerical and administrative duties
  • Preparing documents for filing and performing filing tasks.
  • Performing data entry duties
  • Working on projects using spreadsheets and other computer based applications
  • Providing assistance on special projects and tasks
  • Position may require receptionist-related duties such as greeting the public, answering the phone, and providing courier services

Required Qualifications

  1. Valid driver's license
  2. Proficiency in computer applications, specifically MS Word and Excel as demonstrated by application materials
  3. Strong attention to detail as demonstrated by application materials
  4. Experience in following directions with minimal supervision
  5. Available to work an average of 15 hours per week during the academic year with at least 2 hour time blocks
  6. During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Enrollment in Business, Communications, or other related field
  2. Prior work experience in a business office
  3. Strong oral and written communication skills
  4. Strong customer service skills
