Position Overview
This position is responsible for the content management and maintenance of web-related and digital media duties for an NSF-funded international project led by Professor Daniel Tapia Takaki at the Department of Physics and Astronomy. The position will work as part of the communications team, including video producer and web developer, as well as in collaboration with team members of Prof Tapia Takaki. The primary focus of the position is assisting with the organization, publishing and updating of profiles, events and solicitations on the project website. Other tasks may include assisting with the management of other website content and digital projects. Job Description
Responsibilities:
- 35% Create and maintain web communications, profiles on the new NSF Accelent project website
- 35% Organize, develop and edit content to be published on NSF Accelent web properties
- 20% Respond to inquiries and update requests
- 10% Perform other marketing and PR tasks as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Experience in website content management, marketing, and/or communications, as demonstrated in application materials.
- Studying physics, communications, journalism, marketing, or related field, as demonstrated in application materials.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills, as evidenced in application materials.
- Ability to work independently and to support several projects simultaneously, as evidenced in application materials.
- Demonstrated knowledge through course of study or work experience in web design/maintenance, as evidenced in application materials.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft products (Word, Excel), as demonstrated in application materials.
- During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must:
- have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or
- be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or
- be enrolled in summer session or
- be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with/knowledge of Drupal, Adobe Photoshop, HTML, other CMS, or willingness to learn.
- Knowledge of AP style.
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud programs (primarily Photoshop).
