Position Overview

KU’s Institute for Health and Disability Policy Studies (IHDPS) is hiring two student hourlies to work on a grant-funded project titled “Evaluating the Reliability, Validity and Sensitivity of Person-Centered Medicaid Outcome Measures." The position will require these students to complete structured interviews with people with disabilities across Kansas via Zoom. As this is a research study, protocols for conducting interviews are highly-scripted and monitored for research fidelity and integrity. While the majority of the work for this position will be done remotely, some meetings with other project staff will occur on the main KU-Lawrence campus. The position will provide the student with an opportunity to learn about Medicaid and be part of a national research study to provide valuable findings to improve outcomes and the quality of life of people with disabilities across the country. The position will provide valuable research experience and mentorship from a research team with over 25 years of experience in the disability research field.

This is a 5-15 hour per week position on the Lawrence campus for the Summer and Fall 2022 semesters, with possibility of longer-term work as available (hourly rate $15-$16/hour, based on experience). Most work for this position will be completed remotely. The student must be currently enrolled at the University of Kansas or University of Kansas Medical Center, preferably in Special Education, Applied Behavioral Science, Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Health Education & Psychology, or a related field.

Job Description

Conducting 60-90 minute interviews with research participants via Zoom following scripted protocols; research data entry and cleaning using Qualtrics; data collection and assistance with recruitment; IRB-related tasks; literature reviews and general office tasks.

*This position will be a combination of on-site and telework

Required Qualifications

  1. Proficient in Zoom
  2. Proficient in all Microsoft Office programs
  3. Demonstrated experience conducting standardized assessment and/or following strict research protocols
  4. During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must:
    1. have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or
    2. be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or
    3. be enrolled in summer session or
    4. be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Preference for graduate student or junior/senior level undergraduate
  2. Preference for experience with Qualtrics survey platform
  3. Preference for someone who has personal experience with a disability and/or experience working with people with disabilities
  4. Preference for someone with experience using Tableau data publishing platform
