Job Description

Opening starting August 20 to assist the School's Resource Center Coordinator, Business Manager, and/or Executive Assistant to the Dean, in a variety of areas. Duties include, but are not limited to: telephone, reception and screening, greeting visitors and resolving and/or referring inquiries, assisting faculty, staff and students with equipment, running errands, setting up new files, maintaining files, photocopying, assisting with cover in the School of Journalism's Dean's office, and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  1. Two or more years of experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
  2. Able to commit to a set schedule and open to School's need for occasional extra hours
  3. During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments)

Preferred Qualifications

  1. One year of previous experience working in an office environment
  2. Dependable, organized, detail oriented, demonstrates initiative and has a positive attitude
  3. Must have a good work ethic and be self-driven to complete assigned tasks
  4. Excellent communication and customer service skills as demonstrated by application materials and interview
  5. Ability to work collegially with others
