Position Overview

Job Description

The student photographer/videographer for the Hatch Center at the School of Architecture & Design helps document and preserve the intellectual and creative output of the School for use in archives, public relations and recruitment. The student photographer/videographer will work with Hatch Center director to plan, coordinate and produce photo and video projects that fulfill predetermined outcomes in an efficient manner. Attention to detail and ability to communicate effectively with student, faculty and staff subjects is a must.


34% - photographic or video documentation of student and faculty projects, events, and exhibitions.
33% - assisting with post-production.
33% - project planning and coordination

Required Qualifications

  1. Previous working experience as a photographer and videographer as evidenced by application materials and work history.
  2. Previous experience with video editing software, preferably Adobe Premier as evidenced by application materials and work history.
  3. Flexibility in scheduling and reliability to meet appointments is essential as evidenced by application materials and work history.
  4. During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Previous experience shooting and editing for a video production company.
  2. Experience with content management tools.
  3. Knowledge of lighting techniques.
  4. Knowledge of photo metadata and file handling best practices.
  5. Have your own equipment.

Work Schedule
