Test Development Coordinator
The Mathematics Test Development Coordinator will lead test development efforts for mathematics assessments, with responsibility for the full test development cycle, from initial item writing to final operational test forms. The Coordinator will manage a small team to ensure that complex development processes are implemented consistently and will ensure that quality assurance criteria and delivery deadlines are met. The successful candidate will have excellent project management skills and an understanding of one or more of the following: mathematics, mathematics education, instruction for students with significant cognitive disabilities, and test development. This position is contingent on funding.
15% Prepare documentation about test development processes for technical and non-technical audiences. Activities include contributing to recruitment materials, training plans, technical reports and instructional supports.
10% Coordinate and contribute to work with the English language arts and science test development teams, the research team and the test production team. Activities include coordinating resource allocation and timelines for deliverables and attending regular staff meetings.
5% Communicate with external audiences including state departments of education, governance board and professional organizations
- Bachelor’s degree in special education, mathematics education, curriculum & instruction, or a closely related area and five years of teaching experience OR a Master’s degree in special education, mathematics education, curriculum & instruction, or a closely related area and three years of teaching experience.
- Experience in at least one of the following: mathematics content standards, instruction for students with significant cognitive disabilities, and/or large-scale test development.
- Experience independently managing complex projects, producing accurate, high-quality products, meeting deliverables and managing timelines.
- Experience with desktop and web-based technologies (e.g., Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Skype) and ability to learn specialized proprietary testing software
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary, team-based environment as evidenced by work history, professional training, or a combination of both.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for diverse audiences as evidenced by work history and/or application materials.
- Experience with large-scale test development (e.g., writing or editing items, serving on a review panel)
- Direct experience working with students with significant cognitive disabilities
- Experience managing a team
