We are seeking a committed scholar to support the university in addressing this mission, with a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB).
The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the U.S, by the time of appointment.
Develop and maintain an active scholarly research agenda and participate in research and grant activities (.40 FTE).
- Sustain an active and productive program of research leading to new insights and advances for publication in refereed journals or other scholarly outlets;
- Provide leadership among and collaborate with faculty members and students as part of their programmatic lines of inquiry;
- Participate in and present original research at scholarly conferences and conventions
- Mentor master’s and doctoral students in the development of research skills and in production of scholarly products; and
- Obtain external funding for research initiatives in collaboration with colleagues.
- Advise, mentor, and teach students working toward masters and/or doctoral degrees in Special Education; and
- Serve on student committees within and beyond the department (e.g., master’s theses, master’s projects, and doctoral committees).
- Collaborate with Department of Special Education, Department of Curriculum and Teaching, and other School of Education and Human Sciences (SOEHS) faculty to ensure effective graduate-level recruitment, advising, and educator preparation;
- Participate in Department of Special Education, SOEHS, and University committees, faculty meetings, and retreats to ensure KU programs meet all professional standards and program quality expectations;
- Collaborate with local, state, and national stakeholders to facilitate ongoing communication, advocacy, research initiatives, and educator preparation
- Doctoral degree in Special Education or related field from an accredited institution with a demonstrated international record of excellence as a scholar/researcher.
- Established line of research resulting in a productive record of scholarship and external funding
- Established record of collaborative partnerships with community programs, districts, schools, relevant state departments, professional organizations, families,
- Established record of successful teaching, advising, and mentoring of undergraduate and/or graduate student in research and practice;
- Ranks among the top scholars in the United States for their field.
- Engages in inter-disciplinary work
- Demonstrated excellence in college teaching
- A proven record of interest in and concern for the growth and success of their students, colleagues, and institutions.
- A demonstrated record of engagement in professional activities (e.g., service, leadership, professional organizations) in related fields as well as University affairs.
