POOL- Lecturer- Project Management


Position Overview

Project Management Programs in the School of Professional Studies at the University of Kansas Lawrence Campus invite qualified scholars and professionals with experience in project management to submit applications that will be reviewed by the faculty and placed in a pool for consideration for part time lecturer positions. A lecturer teaches an undergraduate or a graduate level course either in-person or online and must possess an advanced terminal degree. Lecturers report to the director of the Project Management Programs.

The successful candidate must have appropriate authorization to work in the U.S. before employment begins. Any employment with the University of Kansas is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a background check. Appointments are one semester, renewable and subject to review, funding and adequate student enrollment.

Due to complex state employment laws, the University of Kansas may be unable to hire fully remote workers for this position outside of Kansas. Job Description

40% - Plans, prepares and presents lectures for one undergraduate or graduate course in project management based on an approved course syllabus. Depending on the program, course and semester, instruction may in-person, primarily on the Lawrence Campus, or online. Courses are either eight or sixteen weeks in length.

40% - Develops assignment, projects and exams. Supervises projects, evaluates student work and provides feedback to students. Maintains office hours as necessary to meet students’ needs. In-person courses are live streamed and recorded to support remote students.

20% - Maintains technologies, including a learning management system and a classroom lecture recording system.

Required Qualifications

  1. Earned master’s degree in project management or a master’s degree in a closely related discipline.
  2. Minimum of five years of professional experience.
  3. Two years of supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Doctorate level degree in project management or a closely related field.
  2. Evidence of prior success in teaching, preferably both in-person and online (e.g. course evaluations, supervisor ratings).
  3. Experience with a learning management system, a classroom lecture recording system, and live-inclusion of remote students.
  4. Evidence of PMP certification.
