Administrative Associate


Position Overview

This is a 1.0 FTE appointment serving the School of Social Welfare at the University of Kansas, responsible for handling administrative tasks to support the mission of the school.

The work in this position is twofold; providing administrative support to the two Associate Deans in the School and assisting with administrative support to the school. The work is determined daily by what is needed; flexibility is a must in this work.

Job Description

75% Administrative Support to the Associate Deans in Social Welfare:
Provides support to the Associate Dean for Research and The Associate Dean for Academic Programs as requested, including but not limited to:
  • Managing their Outlook calendars
  • Organizing and managing processes for calls to faculty, staff and students for a variety of opportunities during the year
  • Conducting specific research projects
  • Collecting, collating, editing, formatting data and content for reports

25% Administrative Support to the School: The duties of this portion of the position is shared with another person at the front desk. Provides administrative support to the School of Social Welfare, including but not limited to:
  • Supporting classroom documentation needs, which may include typing, scanning, formatting, binding, etc for faculty and staff
  • Assistance in submitting required documentation to centralized services
  • Assisting with ordering supplies for the School
  • Assisting with events
  • Managing the front desk to answer questions, answer the phone, etc
  • May provide leadership to student employees.

Required Qualifications

  1. High School diploma or GED equivalency and two years of office experience or two years of post-secondary education.
  2. At least 6 months previous work experience in managing data and in customer service as indicated in application materials.
  3. At least 1 year of experience in working with Office products (Outlook, Excel, Word) as indicated in application materials.
